As some of you already know, I was recently selected by the team over at People StyleWatch Magazine to become an official Style Hunter for the mag! They share the latest in fashion with me and I get to share the scoop with you on the latest trends.
I adore wardrobe styling (and seriously miss my days doing theatrical costume design!) and have been wanting to infuse a little more fashion into Martinis and Mascara for a while now. So, I figured this would be the perfect time to launch my new Fashion Friday series! On Fashion Friday I’ll be sharing my fav accessible style finds.
Don’t get me wrong, I love drooling over the fantastical fashion infused pages of high fashion mags. I live for it. And I wish I could just wear crazy pieces like floor-length dupioni silk capes every day, but that’s just not going to happen. (Unless I win the lotto… and then I’m so making that happen at least twice a week.)
Until then, I really need to focus on attainable styles that look great, but don’t cost a bazillion dollars.
Now, let’s get real, I’d rather be comfortable than on-trend. #sorrynotsorry. Luckily, I found a way to be both with this outfit! (Keep in mind that I live in Florida, so this whole open plaid top thing works for me. If you’re up north, you might want to button up and add a layer!)
Here’s my formula for effortless fall fashion:
Paige Denim “Kadie” Plaid Shirt in Smitten
Hear me out on this one. I just preached about affordable fashion and I know this shirt isn’t exactly cheap – but it’s high quality and worth it. (Wait for it, because my killer boots and jeans, both around 30 bucks, will make up for the damage.) Every outfit deserves a splurge item right? This top is so well made, super comfortable, fits like a dream, and does not wrinkle. It is fabulous and flattering. Oh, and plaid is in for fall, so that makes it even better.
ModCloth “A Layer to Love Top” in Black
Any black cami or shell top would work, but I’m a total ModCloth addict so I chose this one. Victoria’s Secret also makes a killer basic tank, just saying.
Denizen Essential Bootcut Jean
Well, hello there $27 jeans! I received these beauties from my participation in the Style Hunters program (thanks People StyleWatch!) and fell in love. They look expensive, but they aren’t. They also hug you in all of the right places! I also have them in the skinny jean variety and love those too. You can pick yours up at Target. 🙂
Forever 21 Sleek Platform Booties
I’m obsessed with these faux suede boots. They feature a faux leather shaft and decorative buckled straps. In my mind, they are the perfect little bootie for fall. And surprisingly, they don’t hurt all that bad. The heel is over 5 inches, but with the platform, the incline is not as steep. That makes for happier arches at the end of the day.
DKNY Heritage Vintage Leather Hobo Bag
This is one of my absolute favorite classic handbags… which I luckily scored at TJ Maxx for like $100. Unfortunately, that was a few months ago, and it might not be available anymore. Don’t hate me. As a peace offering, here is a similar style that would work perfectly.
Sidenote: In addition to my fancy new Style Hunter title and favorite new jeans, People StyleWatch also shared exclusive coupon codes with me! This could get dangerous. If you’re interested in a little e-shopping, here are some exclusive codes to take with you to the following sites:

going to pick up my new jeans today…did you get them at a locale Target? and yes the addiction to Modcloth runs deep with me also.
You will love them Jodes!! And yes they have them at all the local Targets… I got these sent to me, but I have other pairs that I picked up at the Target on Palm Beach Lakes. 🙂 And yes ModCloth addiction is a real thing! It’s a problem LOL. 🙂
