Kicking Off My Weight Loss Journey with the Nutrisystem Diet Program

Healthy eating really is a way of life and it takes a lot of time and dedication to do it completely from scratch. For those of you out there who prep your healthy food on your own, bravo! It’s never been something I’ve been good at, mainly because of my busy schedule. So, I was thrilled when the folks at Nutrisystem, the easiest meal plan ever, invited me to participate in their #NSNation Blogger program. I’m on my fourth day with Nutrisystem today (loving it so far!) and will share all the deets when I have completed my first week.

Every year I resolve to lose weight and then sometime in February I remember how much I love eating (and drinking mass quantities of alcohol). But this time I can’t chicken out because I have all of you watching!

For motivation’s sake, I’m going to share my body weight timeline from three chapters of my life:

At 19, when I worked at Disney World and my job, let’s get real, revolved around my appearance, I was around 115-120 pounds. I used to wear bikini tops with mesh cover ups out in public. Like, as a top. WTF? I miss you, 19-year-old Katie.

Disney1

When I got married at 23 I was about 130 pounds. I had curves and I wasn’t stick thin, but I was in decent shape and I was happy. If I could mix this size with the confidence of Disney-era Katie, I’d be golden.

Wedding1

I’m now 26… and 35 pounds heavier than that. Life happens I guess? So, here’s what I look like more recently…

Current1

Exhibit A is me, running the Disney Princess Half Marathon in all my too-tight-spandex-wearing glory. Exhibit B is a rare full body shot of myself from a couple months ago… and Exhibit C, if you look to the left of the photo, is an unfortunate shot of my lumpy ass that was published in Allure Magazine. Yikes.

(My official “before shot” of my body will follow when I have a good “after” to pair with it. Ha!)

Now don’t get me wrong, I believe women are beautiful at all shapes and sizes. No one should try to lose weight because society is telling them to or because I’m telling them to for that matter. Only diet if you want to. I think one of the most important factors with issues like this is personal happiness. If you are reading this and you’re like “Hey now, I’m 165 pounds and I feel healthy and happy!” then you GO GIRL. Seriously. Go on with your bad self and own it. I started Nutrisystem because I want to get back in shape and get to my happy. I know that my happy is not your happy. PSA over.

With that said, I’m ready to get in shape! My goal is to lose at least 30 pounds. I’ll be chronicling my Nutrisystem journey weekly through the next three months. (Then on my birthday March 24th I’m going to have the most epic cheat day of life.) Soon I’ll be sharing my favorite Nutristystem meal picks, low calorie cocktail recipes and other posts that match my new mantra: Martinis, Mascara, and Moderation.

[Disclosure: I have received Nutrisystem for free in exchange for my honest opinion of the program.]

  1. You are SO incredibly photogenic, no matter what weight you are at! Your weight has reflected your life in a very similar way to mine, so I totally get that you wish to return to that golden era of no love handles. I too was 119 lbs at age 19, 127 at age 30, and now I’m 54 and about 170 lbs. I workout consistently and eat well and still….the days of the leaner side of myself are behind me I fear. The good news is that I don’t look my age, because I’m not a withered prune with no extra fat to plump out those wrinkles! I wish you well in your quest to lose some weight. You GO girl and I will be following your progress!

    1. Thank you so much, Ali!! That is so kind of you to say! And that is so awesome that you are eating well and working out. You go too, girl!! Thank you so much for reading and for you support!! 🙂

  2. You can do it Katie! We can motivate each other from afar! And remember, I love all the katies… from 5 years old to 26 years old 🙂

Ps I agree with everything you said in this article. Always strive to be the best version of YOU and only compare yourself to the person you were the day before. I love you girl… time to move mountains! 🙂

    1. Erin, you legit just made me cry!! Thank you SO much! I love all the Erins from 5 to 27! I’m so proud of you. Let’s def motivate each other from afar! I’ll pretend I’m running on the beach in Hawaii when I work out lol! Love you!!!! 🙂

  3. I’m on Nutrisystem myself. I lost 40 lbs before I got pregnant and am now back on it to lose the baby weight and then some. You can do it!!!
