The first time I came face to face with a Zac Posen was at my Allure shoot last year. The first time I came face to face with the Zac Posen was over the weekend.
I pretty much fell in love both times.
The highly acclaimed designer and Project Runway judge was in Boca on Saturday to present his fall collection for a wonderful cause. The SHUZZ | ART | FASHION event raised over $175,000 – 100 percent of which will be given directly to relief efforts to donate shoes to children in impoverished communities internationally. So amazing.
Also amazing, was Zac Posen’s Fall 2014 Collection. Let’s talk about it.
The collection was dripping in all of the effortless draping and distinct structural silhouettes that make Zac Posen Zac Posen. If you’ve never experienced a Posen show before, it’s like watching a movie. Like a really badass, theatrically dramatic movie. With an epic soundtrack.
The show began with a series of fitted skirtsuits in rich fall appropriate fabrics like tweed and finished with some serious heavy hitters in the ball gown department. Interesting architectural sleeves and gorgeous floor length capes also made an appearance on some of the garments. As usual, the collection showcased his masterful skill for creating pieces that are both edgy and feminine. See for yourself (photos below by the super talented Simon Soong):
The event fused fashion and philanthropy with art which made it a truly unique experience. An impressive roster of artists presented work to be auctioned for the charity. I already shared my favorite piece by Amanda Valdes, but she didn’t stop at that one. The artist drew inspiration from Zac’s fashions (and models!) and created a series of new runway inspired drawings. My favorite is this drawing inspired by the beautiful Marla Weaver:
