My New Favorite Denim Brand

As you all know, I am a huge proponent of positive body image no matter what size you are! I’ve been very vocal about this on the blog which is why I am so excited to spread the news about one of my favorite new fashion brands – SLINK Jeans!

The SLINK philosophy totally aligns with mine and I love that there is finally a premium denim brand for curvy girls that stands for what I believe in. I believe that banishing body shame is essential and SLINK agrees. The brand name itself is an acronym for “sexy, lovable, intelligent, noticeable, and kind.” Love it.

The premium denim line is designed with an exclusive, curve-hugging technology, so the quality of the jeans is just as amazing as the brand’s body positive stance.

SLINK currently offers a range of curve-friendly sizes starting at size 10 and will soon expand to ALL sizes (0-24) because not all curves are created equal.

SLINK is also launching a beauty contest with an opportunity to win big in the next month, so be sure to follow SLINK on Instagram and Facebook to keep an eye out for more details on how you can enter to win.

Are you ready to join the body positive revolution with me? Shop SLINK at retailers like Nordstorm and Macy’s and be sure to stay tuned for more details on Martinis and Mascara about my new favorite brand!

SHUZZ Fashion Show with Zac Posen

1 The first time I came face to face with a Zac Posen was at my Allure shoot last year. The first time I came face to face with the Zac Posen was over the weekend.

Zac Posen

I pretty much fell in love both times.

The highly acclaimed designer and Project Runway judge was in Boca on Saturday to present his fall collection for a wonderful cause. The SHUZZ | ART | FASHION event raised over $175,000 – 100 percent of which will be given directly to relief efforts to donate shoes to children in impoverished communities internationally. So amazing.

Also amazing, was Zac Posen’s Fall 2014 Collection. Let’s talk about it.

The collection was dripping in all of the effortless draping and distinct structural silhouettes that make Zac Posen Zac Posen. If you’ve never experienced a Posen show before, it’s like watching a movie. Like a really badass, theatrically dramatic movie. With an epic soundtrack.

The show began with a series of fitted skirtsuits in rich fall appropriate fabrics like tweed and finished with some serious heavy hitters in the ball gown department. Interesting architectural sleeves and gorgeous floor length capes also made an appearance on some of the garments. As usual, the collection showcased his masterful skill for creating pieces that are both edgy and feminine. See for yourself (photos below by the super talented Simon Soong):

The event fused fashion and philanthropy with art which made it a truly unique experience. An impressive roster of artists presented work to be auctioned for the charity. I already shared my favorite piece by Amanda Valdes, but she didn’t stop at that one. The artist drew inspiration from Zac’s fashions (and models!) and created a series of new runway inspired drawings. My favorite is this drawing inspired by the beautiful Marla Weaver:

Fashion Friday: The Beyonce Boutique

Screen-Shot-2013-05-22-at-10.17.54-AM Happy Fashion Friday! I have some fun news to share about one of my favorite beauty icons and one of the most revolutionary fashion platforms out there.

In celebration of The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, Rent the Runway has partnered with Beyonce to offer her fans the ultimate Queen B experience. The partnership, which kicked off earlier this year, has been refreshed for the season. To recognize The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour’s return to the U.S. in December, Beyonce has updated the Beyonce Boutique with styles handpicked just for the holidays. Women everywhere will be able to access Beyoncé’s picks to attend the tour in style, or to simply channel Bey on any special night out.

“Making women feel confident and beautiful is something I’ve always been passionate about. That’s why joining forces with Rent the Runway was so organic. It’s more than just access to beautiful clothes; it’s about making women look and feel their best,” Beyonce said.

I am also very thrilled to announce that Beyonce’s Rent the Runway picks are almost identical to my Rent the Runway wish list. Since Mrs. Carter is like the queen of style, this makes me very happy.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the awesome service that RTR provides, they offer designer dresses for rent at reasonable rates, so you can get decked out for your special occasion at a fair price and still look like a million bucks. They even send you multiple sizes to ensure the best fit. Amazing! It’s wonderful for events like weddings and also a great service to keep in mind for the upcoming holiday party season.

Here are a few designer dresses that Bey and I both love:

Badgley Mischka Screen Siren Gown

When I daydream about what I would wear to an awards show, this is the dress that I’m wearing. I have this glamorous golden gown bookmarked in my favorites because I adore it, but I haven’t quite found the event that I’d need it for yet. One day though, I’m renting this baby!

Zac Posen Love at First Sight Dress

Zac Posen is the business. This crimson colored dress, from his Z Spoke line, is stunningly simple yet elegant in the best way.

Vera Wang Take the Throne Gown

Ugh, I love the mermaid silhouette so much! I was sold on the flattering fit, but the stunning color combination on this navy damask dress makes it swoon-worthy too.

Nicole Miller Pretty Woman Dress

This sexy lace dress could be worn to a high class event or even out on the town for date night. It’s stunning and versatile. It’s M&M and Beyonce approved!

Fashion Friday: dENiZEN Jeans and People StyleWatch Magazine

Style Hunter

As some of you already know, I was recently selected by the team over at People StyleWatch Magazine to become an official Style Hunter for the mag! They share the latest in fashion with me and I get to share the scoop with you on the latest trends.

I adore wardrobe styling (and seriously miss my days doing theatrical costume design!) and have been wanting to infuse a little more fashion into Martinis and Mascara for a while now. So, I figured this would be the perfect time to launch my new Fashion Friday series! On Fashion Friday I’ll be sharing my fav accessible style finds.

Don’t get me wrong, I love drooling over the fantastical fashion infused pages of high fashion mags. I live for it. And I wish I could just wear crazy pieces like floor-length dupioni silk capes every day, but that’s just not going to happen. (Unless I win the lotto… and then I’m so making that happen at least twice a week.)

Until then, I really need to focus on attainable styles that look great, but don’t cost a bazillion dollars.

Now, let’s get real, I’d rather be comfortable than on-trend. #sorrynotsorry. Luckily, I found a way to be both with this outfit! (Keep in mind that I live in Florida, so this whole open plaid top thing works for me. If you’re up north, you might want to button up and add a layer!)

Here’s my formula for effortless fall fashion:

Paige Denim “Kadie” Plaid Shirt in Smitten

Paige Plaid

Hear me out on this one. I just preached about affordable fashion and I know this shirt isn’t exactly cheap – but it’s high quality and worth it. (Wait for it, because my killer boots and jeans, both around 30 bucks, will make up for the damage.) Every outfit deserves a splurge item right? This top is so well made, super comfortable, fits like a dream, and does not wrinkle. It is fabulous and flattering. Oh, and plaid is in for fall, so that makes it even better.

ModCloth “A Layer to Love Top” in Black Modcloth Tank

Any black cami or shell top would work, but I’m a total ModCloth addict so I chose this one. Victoria’s Secret also makes a killer basic tank, just saying.

Denizen Essential Bootcut Jean

Denizen Jeans

Well, hello there $27 jeans! I received these beauties from my participation in the Style Hunters program (thanks People StyleWatch!) and fell in love. They look expensive, but they aren’t. They also hug you in all of the right places! I also have them in the skinny jean variety and love those too. You can pick yours up at Target. 🙂

Forever 21 Sleek Platform Booties

Forever Boots

I’m obsessed with these faux suede boots. They feature a faux leather shaft and decorative buckled straps. In my mind, they are the perfect little bootie for fall. And surprisingly, they don’t hurt all that bad. The heel is over 5 inches, but with the platform, the incline is not as steep. That makes for happier arches at the end of the day.

DKNY Heritage Vintage Leather Hobo Bag

DKNY Purse

This is one of my absolute favorite classic handbags… which I luckily scored at TJ Maxx for like $100. Unfortunately, that was a few months ago, and it might not be available anymore. Don’t hate me. As a peace offering, here is a similar style that would work perfectly.

Sidenote: In addition to my fancy new Style Hunter title and favorite new jeans, People StyleWatch also shared exclusive coupon codes with me! This could get dangerous. If you’re interested in a little e-shopping, here are some exclusive codes to take with you to the following sites:

AMI Clubwear: Enter “PSW30” at checkout for a 30% site-wide discount. (Excludes Pleaser shoes.)

Elie Tahari: Enter “PSW25” at checkout for a 25% discount on full-price merchandise.

So, there’s that. Thanks for reading Fashion Friday! Now, back to our regularly scheduled content about beauty and booze. 😉

H&M Concludes Fashion Road Trip with Openings in my Fav Locations

I am so thrilled to head out to New York tomorrow for LuckyFABB, but so bummed I’m going to be out of town for the last two stops on the H&M Fashion Road Trip!

H&M is excited to open multiple locations in Florida this Fall and kicked off the H&M Fashion Road Trip on September 26th at the Pembroke Lakes Mall. The Mall at Wellington was the second stop on the road trip which will conclude with two of my absolute favorite places – CityPlace (where I pretty much live now) and the Mall at Millenia (where I pretty much lived during my Disney days) – on Thursday.

I adore H&M because the store features on-trend fashion favorites at wallet friendly prices. I bought a killer sheath dress at the Palm Beach Gardens location last week for ten bucks. TEN BUCKS!

Customers who have joined H&M at store openings within the state this October receive special discounts and have the opportunity to win a chance to go to New York City for the unveiling of the Isabel Marant for H&M Collection as well as a $1,000 H&M shopping spree! To learn more about the H&M Fashion Road Trip stop at CityPlace in West Palm Beach, visit:

See below for your official passport. Print it and bring it with you to the opening!

My beautiful friend Annie of The Fashion Poet will be kicking off the festivities at the Mall of Millenia in Orlando. Head over to her blog for more details on that!

Since I can’t attend either opening on Thursday, I need all of my South and Central Florida gals to get on the road and go for me. I’ll be there in spirit while I’m shopping at the H&M in Manhattan. 😉
