I was first introduced to Luka Mineral Cosmetics when I attended the Luka Cosmetics Makeup & Lash Bar grand opening event last week. (Which was super fun and included lots of yummy pink cocktails that I will be blogging about soon!)
I scooped up a tube of the Luka lipstick in Brava while I was there and fell in LOVE. It is a beautiful, bright true red in a a smooth, creamy, long-lasting formula infused with Vitamin E and Jojoba. I’m wearing it in the photo above. This lipstick is legit – and delivers the perfect balance of hydration and color.
I was also very impressed with their collection of highly pigmented foundations and concealers. They all have cheeky names like “Pack Your Bags” for the concealer. Total added bonus.
For more information on the products, check out www.lukamineralcosmetics.com. If you live in my neck of the woods (SoFla represent), check out www.makeupandlashbar.com for deets on services offered at the new Palm Beach Gardens makeup studio. I plan to check it out again soon and give you all the full scoop, so stay tuned. I have a feeling this will not be the last you hear from me about Luka!
Anything that sounds like Cosmopolitan is ok in my book!
This set of ESQIDO false eyelashes is not just a cutesy name though – these babies mean business! Each lash is equipped with a sturdy, handcrafted cotton band. The high quality mink lashes feature flirty criss-cross strands that start at the inner corner of the eye. The strands gradually become more dense and finish with a long, sexy winged out effect at the outer corner of the eyes. The shape is really unique. They are super voluminous and flattering and I love love love them. High drama (the good kind) and really fun!
The best part? Unlike most disposable falsies, you can wear this kind up to 25 times.
I also like Esqido’s Little Black Lash set if you’re going for a more natural look. But let’s get real, I’d rather order up a Lashmopolitan. Cheers!
I am loving the latest from my favorite hair brand, ARROJO! (You may remember me mentioning the man behind the brand and my favorite haircut once or twice.)
Using anti-oxidizing Vitamin E, the new Cream Whip is a product perfect for prepping locks for styling. It’s a conditioning treatment and styling product that looks like a mousse and acts like a magical moisturizing serum. Just apply to damp hair, comb through and style as usual!
With conditioning benefits, it adds moisture and silkiness, and frees tangles so hair is easier to brush and comb. It also enhances waves and soft movement without adding hold or stickiness.
It’s like one of those products you didn’t realize that you needed, but can’t live without once you’ve tried it. I have been using it regularly before blowing my hair out and I’ve never recieved so many compliments on my hair! This one’s a definite keeper. And it smells like heaven, too. Love!
I’m a hard nut to crack when it comes to foundation. I branch out for certain occasions, but I usually prefer to work with cream foundations, both for personal and professional use. I like that they are easier to customize and generally they stay on longer than other types thanks to the high pigment content.
I easily fall in love with other types of cosmetics (lipstick and eyeshadow especially), but foundation has to pass a series of tests. Sometimes I’ll like the shade and the texture, but the formula will break me out. Sometimes I’ll really like the consistency, but the shade is off. Sometimes the shade is spot on, but it doesn’t blend easily. It’s a tricky situation and I have pretty high standards. And I’m super picky about the pigment to vehicle ratio. Yes, I just said that.
With that said, I’m pleased to announce that AJ Crimson’s Creme Foundation passed all of my tests! I love it. I have been wearing shade #1 and by some miracle of the makeup world, it matches my skin perfectly! I LOVE that the masterminds in AJ Crimson’s lab thought to include colors for both the really light (#PaleGirlProblems) and colors for really dark toned skin too.
For those of you who are familiar with cream bases, AJ Crimson’s foundation is like Joe Blasco Studio Base and Mehron Celebre HD had a baby. It melts into the skin providing a flawless finish with buildable coverage.
If I ever meet AJ at a beauty event I’m going to give him a great big hug.
The nail polish masters at OPI recently released a collection with my favorite person ever, Gwen Stefani. I have adored her since about the 4th grade when I first discovered No Doubt. (Tragic Kingdom was literally the first album I ever purchased – and to this day it’s one of my favorites. I still belt a mean “Just a Girl” in the shower.)
She exudes beauty and awesomeness in addition to being a major player in both the music industry and the fashion world, so she’s an obvious choice for this sort of collaboration.
The collection features seven new limited edition nail lacquers for 2014, featuring standout color in breakthrough finishes. Highlights from the collection include a bold red lacquer that pays homage to Gwen’s signature lipstick, a new semi-matte satin finish in shades of gold and black, and a mirrored chrome paired with a special base coat. The collection also features an assortment of minis to try before you buy the full size lacquers.
Inspired by the 2013 Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala that featured the theme “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann decided to create a collection of lacquer celebrating the role of music as a major influence in fashion. I LOVE it. See below for the shades!

Seriously – I have not been this excited about a blush since Orgasm.
Enter Clinique’s new Cheek Pop aka my new best friend. The texture is silky, not chalky, so the application provides a sheer, natural wash of color without looking too powdery. It’s buildable too, so you can turn up the volume as much as you’d like.
The bouquet of colors is absolutely gorgeous too. Perfect for spring! Cheek Pop comes in a quartet of brightly pigmented shades – Berry Pop, Peach Pop, Plum Pop, and my favorite, Ginger Pop. With this versatile range you can find a pop for every skin tone and occasion. I suspect they might also look cute as eyeshadow colors as well!
I instantly fell in love with Ginger Pop. I slapped it on as soon as I recieved the collection last week and it has been doing wonderfully flattering things to my face ever since.
Oh, and did I mention that each blush pod is complete with a little daisy carved into the product? Cute overload. Mark your calendars because Cheek Pop is available in stores next week!
Ok, seriously, I think Shiseido designed this palette just for me.
Beauty-lovers become mixologists with this sleek palette of nine shades created by Shiseido Artistic Director Dick Page. The Limited Edition Eye Color Bar features seven distinct colors and two transformative shades with polarized pearls that allow you to create customized colors and textures through layering. You can create looks ranging from natural to high fashion with this versatile batch of colors.
And – the best part – the shade names are all cocktail themed. Blend liqueur-inspired tones like Parfait Amour, Cassis and Café with highlighting mixers like Champagne and Soda for a variety of perfect holiday party looks. They are all beautiful and highly pigmented. My favorite shades are Curacao and Menthe.
The Limited Edition Eye Color Bar is a prime example of Dick Page’s philosophy, “Makeup should be fun.” Cheers to that!
