My Fav Beauty Looks from the MTV Movie Awards (and how to get them!)

Jared Leto MTV Movie Awards

Sorry, it’s kind of a tradition now that I kick off all of my red carpet beauty roundups with a photo of Jared Leto. Couldn’t help it. ;)

Lots of stars shone on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet last night, but my favs were Jessica Alba’s hair and Lupita Nyong’o's face. So. Pretty. As usual, I got the scoop on the products used to get both looks!

Not surprising, Lupita was all done up in Lancôme after recently announcing her status as an ambassadress (sweet gig, right?) for the brand.

Celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose gave the recently appointed ambassadress “sparkly, disco-inspired eyes” for the red carpet. Barose wanted to complement Nyong’o’s colorful dress with a silver metallic eye. Here are the products he used:

Now, let’s get to Jessica Alba’s hair! Here’s how it looked last night:

Celebrity hairstylist Davey Newkirk gave Jessica some glossy, simple loose waves for the 2014 MTV Movie awards. Very playful and total modern Hollywood glam.

Here are the steps he used to create the look:

Temptu Airbrush System Logo

Temptu Airbrush Makeup Signature Kit

Obsession alert! I am such a huge fan of the TEMPTU Airbrush Makeup System I can’t even stand it. Airbrush makeup has always been a little intimidating to me… until now! I’m usually a devoted cream makeup and loose powder kind of gal when it comes to doing my own makeup, but this system has inspired me to branch out. This TEMPTU spray makeup couldn’t be easier to work with and it takes all of the guesswork out of using airbrush makeup.

TEMPTU is the go-to makeup for some of the biggest names in music, movies, and television as well as some of the top names in fashion. Celebs from Lady Gaga to Scarlett Johansson regularly have their skin brushed on to perfection with TEMPTU makeup. The stellar makeup artists behind the scenes of Mad Men, The Voice, and Dancing with the Stars all use this awesome technology to create flawless faces as well.

And since the TEMPTU airbrush makeup kits are SO EASY, you can get the celeb look at home too! TEMPTU’s Airbrush Makeup Kit and patented AIRpod makeup is the first easy-to-use, professional-quality, home airbrush makeup system.

The AIRpod Foundation is a luxurious, water-resistant foundation inspired by TEMPTU’s iconic pro formula for luminous results. It is ultra lightweight and versatile for sheer to full coverage. I LOVE it. I also adore the AIRpod Blush, a highly-pigmented buildable blush. My favorite of the pods is the AIRpod Highlighter which provides a soft illumination to areas where the sun would naturally hit for instant radiance. These universally flattering highlighter hues can also be used on eyes. I love to spray the highlighter all over my eye area to create a shimmery base for my eye makeup as well!

See below for my how-to on how to use this foolproof airbrush…

So simple and quick, right? I’m also thrilled that I got my Temptu airbrush just in time for the holiday party season! It is perfect for easy-but-beautiful holiday makeup. The system creates such a flawless finish that you can let your airbrushed skin be the star of your holiday look.

temptuholidaypunchup After my ultra-glam base was in place, I just added a few finishing touches to complete the easiest holiday look ever. I really wanted my newly flawless skin to do the talking, so I added just a few enhancements to punch it up:

-Em Michelle Phan Arched Defining Brow Liner
-LORAC eyeshadow in Pearl
-MAC Eyeliner in Mountain Air
-YSL Babydoll Mascara
-MAC lipstick in RiRi Woo (no liner required because the blush served as a primer!)

The TEMPTU Airbrush Makeup Kits start at $149… but I have more exciting news for you! My giveaway extravaganza is not over! Want to win a Temptu airbrush makeup system for yourself? Trust me, you do! One lucky winner will receive the Temptu Signature Airbrush Makeup Kit (system, foundation, blush, highlighter) – which is everything I used in the video above. Following the recent release of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, this look featuring COVERGIRL and the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series is perfectly on point for Halloween. Channel your inner Daisy Buchanan with these steps by celeb makeup artists Erica Whelan and Emily Kate Warren. Add a flapper dress and sequined headpiece and you’re all set for the festivities on Thursday!

Here’s how to get the look:

Spritz a two-inch section of hair with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Hairspray.  Using a one-inch barrel curling iron, curl the section away from your face.

Gently slide curl off the iron so it holds the shape of the barrel, and pin. Repeat over entire head. Let curls set for at least 30 minutes.

While curls set, prep skin with moisturizer, and then apply COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation with a foundation brush for even coverage. Set with pressed powder.

Dust cheekbones with bronzer for definition, then apply rosy-pink blush to the apples of cheeks.

Use bronzer and pressed powder to create a neutral smoky eye. Sweep pressed powder over the entire lid and blend bronzer in the crease.

Apply COVERGIRL Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus in Black eyeliner to upper and lower lashlines, extending the line slightly beyond the outer corners of eyes. Coat top and bottom lashes generously with mascara.

Finish with a red lipstick like COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lip Color in Hot and layer with COVERGIRL Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balm in Tweet Me for a glossy look. (Click here to see how I feel about Tweet Me!)

Release curls and brush to create subtle waves. Smooth flyaways with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Extreme SMOOTH Combing Crème.

Get the Look: Adele’s Grammy Makeup and Hair

adelebeautymain Adele’s Grammy gown may be getting mixed reviews, but there’s no doubt that the cheeky songstress was glowing. Adele, clad in a bold print a la vintage inspired Valentino, rocked her signature cat eye with high volume lashes and a soft pink pout. I just had to know, so I got the scoop on what products celebrity makeup artist and hair stylist Michael Ashton used to create Adele’s romantic Grammy look.

To enhance her flawless complexion, Michael applied Armani Maestro Foundation in Shade 3 with Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat to highlight the high planes of her face. For her statement eye, he created a thick cat eye using Maybelline Studio Gel Liner in Black. coral On her lids, he painted  on Lancôme Color Design Infinité 24H Eye  Shadow in Continuous Creme, a light matte beige cream eyeshadow in a crease free, smudge-proof formula. He contoured her eye with the Lancôme Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Coral Crush. He framed her eye using Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre brow pencil on her brows. After applying some serious false lashes, he swept on Lancôme Hypnôse Star Mascara in Noir Midnight.

Her pink pout was concocted with MyFace Lip Liner in Nude with a wash of Armani Lip Maestro Number 500. Michael finished her lip with  Sisley Phyto Lip Star Lip Gloss in White Diamond. adele-grammy-updo-h724

For her swept up coiffure, Michael used all John Frieda products. He offered these steps to recreate the look: blowout

Step 1: Prep

Apply the new Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray ($9.99 at drugstores) to wet hair before blow-drying with a medium sized round brush, paying particular attention to the ends to ensure they are bouncy and luscious. This heat activated spray will help ensure you build volume that will last but won’t be too sticky.

Step 2: Style

Next set in hot rollers. Once cool, carefully brushed through with a natural bristle brush.

Step 3: Perfect

Finish off the look by twisting the back section into a French twist and pin away from the face. Mist with Luxurious Volume All-Day Hold Hairspray ($5.99 at drugstores) to ensure the updo stays in place all night long.
