I’m getting ready to travel to Florida for the holidays, so it’s time to make sure I have my must-haves in stock to pack with me! No matter if I’m jetsetting or just jogging uptown to the gym, I make sure to keep the products that keep me feeling fresh on hand.
I absolutely have to have a quality dry shampoo. It’s an amazing way to refresh your hair if it’s dirty… and even just add some oomph if it’s clean! I’m also obsessed with lip balm – especially living in NYC in the winter time. I also always keep essential oils on hand. I love different blends for different reasons, but love to keep calming oils on hand to help me keep my cool when things get stressful.
I also love keeping the Simply Sensitive Summer’s Eve® Cleansing Cloths on hand. These are super handy because they’re individually wrapped and easy to carry around in your purse or gym bag when you’re on the go. I LOVE the Mandarin Blossom scent. And the formula is gentle enough so it won’t irritate your sensitive skin! They’ve also been clinically and gynecologist tested for safety. They’re the perfect addition to your personal care routine.

As most of you know, I went blonde this year after a decade of dying my hair fire engine red! It was definitely a process, but I’ve finally got the right shade thanks to my amazing colorist Rachel Bodt.
Now that I’ve reached my #blondegoals, I
want need to ensure I’m doing everything I can to keep my blonde looking bright and beautiful.
It’s no secret that using purple shampoo to tone will knock out brassiness and that it’s best to use hydrating products as all of the processing can leave your strands parched. But I wanted to know what else can I do to keep my locks looking their bombshell blonde best? Luckily, I have Rachel on speed dial, so I got the scoop from her.
Read her tips below and get ready to take notes!
- “A shower filter,” Rachel said is the first thing that you need to maintain beautiful blonde color. “It may sound weird, but the water (especially in NYC) is treated with all kind of chemicals. Since blonde hair is more porous, it’s more receptive to minerals and other chemicals that could make your blonde dingy and not as bright.”
- She also swears by the original bond builder: Olaplex. “Olaplex is my go to treatment – it keeps the hair healthy and strong. It’s less about the cosmetic feel and more about the interior structure. It really helps the hair to maintain its health.”
- “I also always recommend using a blow dry spray or serum,” she said. “People forget that you can get breakage from the blowdryer, the combination of highlighted hair and high heat is due for breakage. Use something like Redken Argan Oil or Cutler Protectant Spray to put a barrier between the heat and your fresh hair color.”
Ok, so you might remember me teasing to a little project I worked on a while back…
And now I can finally reveal what I was doing!!
I was shooting a makeover video for Harper’s BAZAAR!
(I know, RIGHT?!)
Shout out to my team of celebrity stylists who made me feel like a million bucks at the Plaza that day – hairstylist Matt Fugate, makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes, and fashion stylist Christopher Kim. #sofancy

⬆️ My new hair thanks to the amazing Rachel Bodt. ⬆️
I knew when I was seated next to Heather Graham in the waiting area that I would be in good hands at Cutler Salon.
Truthfully though, I had a pretty good feeling about the fate of my hair even before I walked in. I was referred to Cutler colorist Rachel Bodt by my amazing friend Loni. (She famously went blonde herself and lived to tell the tale to Cosmo, so I trust her with every strand on my head.)
Now I know first hand why Rachel is Loni’s (and Gigi Hadid’s and Emily Blunt’s and Tilda Swinton’s and Marisa Tomei’s and… you get the picture) mane chick.
Rachel is one of the most sought after celeb colorists in the city. With a decade of experience working at one of the leading salons in Manhattan, she knows a thing or two about color. She has an excellent eye and knew how to articulate what I wanted(/needed) better than I could myself.
Before visiting Rachel, I had admittedly hit the purple shampoo too hard and had a weird purple gray tinge lurking throughout my recently blonded locks. It started to look a little weird because my (extremely overgrown) regrowth was warm and looked even more disconnected juxtaposed with my dry, silvery ends. Not a cute look. I wanted it blended and warmed up just a little… but Rachel knew what I needed without me even having to say it.
After a full head of expertly applied highlights, series of Redken Shades EQ toning glosses and a much-needed Olaplex treatment, Rachel took me to a creamier, beigey blonde that makes much more sense with my skin tone and blends effortlessly with my natural root shade. I’m living for my new color and feel like a million bucks!
Beyond giving me life with my new hair, Rachel was a dream to hang with and instantly felt like a best friend I had known for years. This aspect of matching with a colorist is imperative for me, so I was thrilled to discover I love her personality as much as her technique.

Stay tuned to hear much more about my new color guru. I will most definitely be keeping her on my speed dial for hair tips and will be sure to share them with you all! 💁
