What I Learned at Fashion Week

by

I’m still recovering from the whirlwind that was New York Fashion Week. And if you’re a fashion fan, you know that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the flutter of activity during fashion month around the globe. So, as we look ahead to London, Paris, and Milan, allow me to share what I’ve learned so far…

Disney is in.

I saw fairytale themed goodness on more than one runway this season. I spotted Ariel at Milly, Belle at Vicky Zhang, and even the Rodarte show had a princess lost in the forest kinda vibe. Moral of the story is, it’s cool to dress like a princess this spring. This makes me happy for obvious reasons.

The 80s are back.

Seriously. They were all over the place! Definitely in full effect at Jeremy Scott‘s “Slime Time” show where 1980s New York took center stage. Purple eyeshadow, graphic neon nail art, and all.

You can wear a dark lip in the springtime.

It’s a common misconception that you have to wear poppy brights in the spring and vampy dark lips in the fall. But that’s not a thing. You going to challenge Pat McGrath? I know I’m not. #bowdown

All body types are welcome.

Seeing all sizes and all colors on the SAME runway was truly a beautiful thing. Sure there are some designers who dedicate shows to “plus” size fashion, but to showcase both together like Christian Siriano did, on the same runway, is truly remarkable.
