By now I’m sure you’ve heard that the official 2014 color of the year is the breathtaking Radiant Orchid. If you haven’t, let me fill you in!
“While the 2013 color of the year, PANTONE Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”
I totes agree. And it’s just so darn pretty! If you would like to get your orchid fix, read on for my favorite products in 2014’s hottest shade.

Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting in Lavender
Remember how much I like this stuff? Last year, I sang praises for its green counterpart in my first Allure challenge. (That was back when Emerald was the color of the year. See? Full circle.) Well, if you have sallow (aka yellow) skin, this is the stuff for you! Purple and yellow are complementary colors on the trusty color wheel, so they cancel each other out. Consider yourself neutralized.

YSL Ombres 5 Lumieres in Lilac Sky
These perfectly coordinated hues take the guesswork out of choosing what shades to wear together. Each palette holds four luminous, alluring shades of varying intensity and finish—matte, shiny, pearly, or iridescent—and one highlighter. I love Lilac Sky and all of its orchidy goodness.
