My California Adventure and BeautyCon Weekend Recap

by

At long last, here is my BeautyCon recap!

My favorite event of the whirlwind weekend was also the first one, BeautyCon Industry night last Thursday at the exclusive YouTube Space LA. After getting ready at the absolutely gorgeous Roosevelt Hotel, I headed over to YouTube. (By the way, that lipstick is MAC in Show Orchid. One of my faves!)

The venue is a digital creator’s dream complete with studios for filming in every room. Interactive gifting stations lined the outside of the building with awesome brands at every turn (like two of my faves – LORAC and BareMinerals). LORAC creator Carol Shaw and BareMinerals founder Leslie Blodgett were also on hand to chat about their products. Also in attendance? Superstars like Christina Milian who was equally beautiful and inspiring when she addressed the crowd at Industry Night. (I also learned she has her own line of wines now. Sign me up!)

The following day I woke up early to hit up my favorite spa in LA. I couldn’t resist going back since I liked it so much the first time! After my spacation I attended the BeautyCon VIP Pool Party where celeb stylists like Robert Ramos and Kelley Baker were present to give the royal treatment at the shindig.

I also bumped into some familiar faces including Mark Hasche and Erin Heit, creators of Beauty Bumps! (Remember how much I like their product?)

In addition to his work with the bumps, Mark is a celeb hairstylist who has coiffed everyone from Paula Abdul to Jill Zarin. I was thrilled to have him style me up in a faux hawky pompadour for a night out after the pool party (keep an eye out for my post on how to get the look!). After I was properly pomped we all met up for dinner with Ja’Maal Buster – eyelash guru to stars like Rihanna – and I learned all about his awesome line of false lashes (more on that later!).

2 clubs, my first trip to In-N-Out burger, and a few hours later I woke up with what I like to call “hair hangover”…

But quickly switched to this…

…for BeautyCon’s main event on Saturday! (Hooray for makeup and flat irons – amirite?!)

The main BeautyCon event is kind of like VidCon’s trendier little sister. It’s a digitally (YouTube mostly) focused beauty convention that brings together online beauty gurus with fans. Here are some of the sights from BeautyCon…

DY0U6163So fun, right?! I was especially excited to see Kelly Osbourne in all of her lavender hued glory. Technically I was there as a beauty influencer, but I definitely played the role of fan too! I was thrilled to meet, chat with, and learn from some of the girls who have been big inspirations to me – especially Kandee Johnson!

I also met some new blogger/vlogger friends who I connected with instantly like Hazzle of Lipstick, Lace, & Lattes and also awesome vlogger/fashion designer Friedia. I adore them both. Check them out!

After I was all BeautyConned out I headed to an amaazing afterparty at Beso, Eva Longoria’s high end eatery where I had the most killer mojito of life. (It is my mission to track down the mixologist, beat the recipe out of him, and share it with you soon.) The shindig, held in the exclusive upstairs lounge at Beso, was hosted by SoTrenDIY and The Collective. It was chic to death. (Sidenote: If you ever make it to Beso, please do me a favor and make sure it’s on your cheat day… and then please please please order the churros. These gourmet treats are not like your average theme park food – and they are served piping hot with sides of dulce de leche and crème fraiche. Ok, food blogger moment over.)

I attended the after party with my high school friend Devin who also happens to be a social media genius slash super connected awesome person who got me on the very tight guest list last minute. (Thanks Devin!!)

All in all it was an amazing trip! I brought back tons of swag that you will for sure see in future “Obsession of the Day” posts. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at my favorite product discovery of my California adventure: The Lorac Pro on the Go Palette.
